Welcome to the home of Uth magazine

The Uth magazine aims to raise awareness around issues that young people highlight as being important them. We put together cultural articles, entertainment news and fun pages to ensure that there is something for everyone, while at the same time promoting important messages.

This magazine subconsciously tackles issues regarding drug addiction and other problems that young people in Dublin may have.

it was vital to distance the magazine from the usual "preachy" anti - drug campaigns, that young people are routinely exposed to through out their youth.

Instead we created a Branded magazine with a High Street Glossy look,
which looked at troubled celebs and real issues ie: problem pages, the response from the public was overwhelming, it has been heralded as a breath of fresh air amongst all the dreary negative awareness publications.
The ethos is simple promote youth life & youth culture.

come on you lot

King of the ring :

A look into The underground Irish Wrestling scene
Aoife Hewson

We all know wrestling is deadly! It’s been ingrained in us from an early age. When I was growing up wrestling was huge. We had the main superstars; Hulk Hogan, Macho Man Randy Savage, The Ultimate Warrior, The Undertaker, Jake the Snake Roberts… the list is endless. More recently you have Triple H, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kane, The Rock, Chris Jericho and John Cena bashing the crap out of each other weekly. Steroids, fake tan and waxing; the three American wrestling standards. Who can say ‘No’ to the lure of it all though; 24 inch pythons, infamous feuds and incredible backstories. We had Earthquake crushing Jake the Snake Roberts’ pet snake Damien in front of an arena full of horrified kids, Hulk Hogan having a very public (albeit alleged) affair with Macho Man Randy Savage’s wife Miss Elizabeth and The Rock versus Stone Cold Steve Austin. Now for the first time in wrestling history we, the Irish public, have our very own wrestling organisation, our own backstories and our own feuds to follow.
In an innocuous little warehouse located in the bustling heart of the Baldoyle Industrial Estate, lies the unintentionally underground base for Irish Whip Wrestling, named for the infamous wrestling move, The Irish Whip. Founded in February of 2002 by promoter Simon Rochford, he has worked phenomenally hard to bring Irish Whip Wrestling to the forefront of the European wrestling scene. The sport is currently being shown regularly on Irish cable TV channel Buzz TV and is bound to be picking up speed along the way. For the first time we have our very own wrestling superstars competing on the international stage.
The IwW stable is packed with an immensely colourful bunch of top-notch athletes. An inspection of the organisation introduces us to a collage of amazing idols and fearsome brutes, with many wonderful heroes to cheer and as many villains to jeer. I shall now introduce you to just a few of these high flying, chair throwing, smile gathering, hair-raising performers.
Hailing from the clearly infamous New Bedlam Asylum, we have the affable young talent of Mad Man Manson. A fan favourite in Ireland and Europe, his signature straitjacketed routine
sees him rolled out to the ring bound and gagged to take an unprecedented beating before the referee can unleash him and his unique brand of psychotic rage on his hapless opponent.
His black-hearted nemesis is a chap called Vic Viper hailing from “Parts Unknown”; a man snake hybrid that the crowd loves to hate. Not one to play by the rules, he puts on a show stopping performance and his guttural yells of “SHURRUP!” chills the blood of any whimsical young brat to cross his path.
Vic describes his viperous alter ego as “Basically […] the snake man; a deep brooding character and a bit of a loner really. He doesn’t make friends and doesn’t like to make friends. He does things on his own terms.”
The man from the black abyss, Mandrake, is a mixture of brute, brawn and ballet, enabling him to firstly pummel his opponent before dancing towards victory. A relatively new wrestler on The Irish Whip Wrestling circuit, having only two years under his belt, he certainly makes up for it by being distinctly memorable.

Hurrah the 2nd issue is out now :)
